Background: I’ve been a designer and art director for many years and although I’ve commissioned commercial illustrations in the past, I’ve never developed a project by myself. This is a chance to give it a go, with the help of the iPad Pro and its magic pen. | Assignment: design a book of illustrations showing the people of Amsterdam – a multi-cultural, vibrant, beautiful place in the world that’s home. The book will have 26 illustrations but plans to grow. | Solution: minimalistic, non-realistic representation, focusing on people rather than their context, using bold colours, paired with titles that help describe what that person does.
